I think it's a birch absolute custom.

It sounded great when i heard him in Denmark a couple of days ago.

Are those bigger toms than gadd used to use? And did he always have them that far apart? I'm sure they used to be closer.

In the Gadd interview in MD a few months ago the specs said he uses either 10 and 12" or 12 and 13" toms....these look like 13 and 14" with a smaller kick, maybe so he can get them at the height he wants....?

Those are larger sized toms but
right for the gig. It was a great
tour, through the US.

I'm sure the clapton gig requires some playing at very large volumes so the bigger toms probably help with that....i actually saw one of the shows from the clapton tour televised with gadd on drums...it was wicked!!! Really enjoyed it!!!!

I'm just looking at the kic drum, not the tom sizes. The kic looks to be a 20.

This is Gadd's regular 22"x14" bassdrum and I think he is using 14"x12" and 16"x14" toms on top. The same toms that he normaly uses as floor toms. On the floor I think he is using 16"x16 and 18"x16" floor toms (regular ones with legs).

They are actually a 13" and a 14" over a 20" kick. Up close those badges say

"Yamaha Artist Custom - Steve Gadd"

His tech showed me round the kit when the band were rehearsing in London before he went out with Clapton this time round. We were rehearsing next door... How lucky can a guy get?...
